Jack Weatherwax

Jack Weatherwax of Naples FL, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 1, 2017, while swimming in the Gulf in the early afternoon. He was high school sweetheart and beloved husband of almost 50 years to Judy Weatherwax (Treat). He is also survived by his two sons, Scott Weatherwax and his wife  Robin Weatherwax (St. George). Rich Weatherwax and his wife Amy Weatherwax (Periard). Jack also has seven grandchildren. Noah Goik, Reagan Weatherwax, Alix Weatherwax, Corinne Weatherwax, Max Weatherwax, Emmett Weatherwax and Sawyer Weatherwax. He also had many nieces and nephews all of whom he adored; and many cherished friends.

 

In 1965, he started his career navigating a nuclear submarine in the Navy.  After his service to his country, he finished his remaining two years of college  at Northern Michigan University earning his Bachelor of Science in biology.  After college he found his passion working professionally for the Boy Scouts of America and worked for them for over 30 years. Jack worked through various positions starting as an Exploring Executive and worked his way up through organization ending his career as staff member of the Central Region, which covers sixteen different states. He wore many different hats throughout his career ranging from computer systems to finances. Jack was a valuable asset to the organization.

 

Jack had many different hobbies to keep him busy during his retirement. Among these are swimming, kayaking, teaching children about wildlife as a volunteer for the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, fishing and taking a few pictures now and again. His energy was boundless and his smile was infectious. Jack has had an impact on every person he's met with his upbeat personality and positive outlook on life.

 

A get together for the celebration of Jack’s life will be held at a later date.
