Judith Teasdale

Tribute

Judy Teasdale was called home to be with her Lord at Avow Hospice on April 3, 2024 at the age of 90.  She was born October 1, 1933 in Webster Groves, MO, the daughter of Leslie and Ruth Ruble.  After graduation from Webster Groves High in 1951, she attended the University of Miami (Oxford, OH) and later Washington University (St. Louis). 

Judy enjoyed 50 years of marriage with her husband David, who predeceased her by a decade.  She also survived her sister, Eleanor Stewart (and her husband John), her sister-in-law and brother-in-law June and Thomas Teasdale, and her brother-in-law John Teasdale.  She is survived by nephews, nieces and spouses: Thomas Teasdale (wife Karen),  Marjorie “Sara” Teasdale, Laura Teasdale, Sherry Bird (husband Chip) and David Stewart.

When Judy and Dave moved to southwest Florida in 1980 they became active in First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs.  Her spiritual life flourished as she studied the Bible and wrote poetry.  Her many activities and leadership roles at First Church included:  Moderator of the Deacons, circle leader, Bible study teacher, the Order of St. Luke, Women of the Bible, adult education committee, women’s ministry committee, the Great Banquet, Prayer Warriors, and Musical Messengers.  Judy’s ministry touched the lives of many for over 4 decades.

            Beyond church activities, her most beloved hobby was growing and exhibiting roses.  She was the supervisor of sanctuary gardens on the grounds of the church and gave frequent lectures on the art of growing roses.  She was a member of the Greater Fort Myers Rose Society, the Naples Rose Society, and the Naples Botanical Gardens.

            A memorial service will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs.  Interment will be private.  Memorial gifts may be give to First Presbyterian, 9751 Bonita Beach Road, Bonita Spring 34135.
