Dear Dick,
I was very much saddened to hear of Margret's passing. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy and condolences to you and all your family.,
Margret was one of the sweetest kindest people I have ever known. She was always there to help others, so selflessly. I met Margret at the Naples Beach Hotel Tennis Center 9 years ago when I retired and moved to Naples for the winters. She was warm and welcoming to me. We enjoyed many tennis games together, and I know how much Margret loved the sport and tried so hard to continue playing even as her joint problems got worse. It was always fun going out with Margret for lunch, as we did shortly before I left Naples this spring. When I got a hip replacement 2 weeks ago, I was thinking of Margret, and sent her an email, which she replied to on Sunday October 1; a very nice letter. so it is hard for me to believe that she is gone, and I will always remember her most fondly and miss her so much.
Love,
Joan Lasser

Margaret was one of the kindest people I have ever known. I often marveled at her strength of character and as we got to be good friends, I realized that it likely came from the atrocities she witnessed in Germany as a child. When I was in Margaret's presence I always felt "mothered". Even when she was ill, she always wanted to do something for you, rather than you doing something for her. She was not only a wife, but a life partner to Dick, translating for his German clients or hosting an open house when he was double booked. She was immenely proud of the husbands, fathers and businessmen Mark and Larry had become. We all "watched" her grandchildren grow up through her stories and pictures. Although Margaret was extremely competitive, she always recognized that a game of tennis or cards was really about spending time with friends.
Margaret was a hostess extraordinaire. Whether you were visiting for an afternoon or had arrived for a six week visit from Germany, her home really was your home. Most of all, what I will remember about Margaret is how she made me feel....valued and loved. I was lucky to have known her, even luckier to have been her friend. I will miss her dearly. I will honor her memory by trying to be more like her.

I met Margare when I moved to Naples seventeen years ago. Even though I was not on her level, she was always willing to play a game of tennis, encouraging me with every serve and volley. As we got to be better friends, we shared our love of animals. Since my digs were up north, Emma and the Lucy became my Naples dogs. When she developed rheumatoid arthritis and had to give up tennis, she gave the same amount of exuberance to a game of euchre. As we rotated homes for cards, she never showed up at your home without flowers or food. I always marveled at how graciously she hosted visitors from Germany for weeks at a time, introducing them to her Naples friends and making them a partbof her family. Margaret had great strength in times of trouble. As We became close friends, I learned about the hard times she endured in a war torn Germany and I knew where that srength came from.

Dick, Larry, and Mark, we can never forget the wonderful times we had when you all were in Danbury. The "great" baseball games, the loud, busy picnics that Margret planned at your Ridgebury home, and of course tennis with Margret. Good times and such a special person are never forgotten. Our sympathy to you all. Sincerely, Adele Wallin Tarlton and family
