Rita Marie Halloran

Born Rita Marie Powers on December 9, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio to Patrick Vincent and Fern Vivian (DeVanna) Powers. Her father was a WWI veteran who fought in France for the Army. Her mother was a teacher, a graduate of (then) Michigan Normal College (presently Eastern Michigan University). Her parents worked through the Depression, her father charged with running a crew in the WPA which paved Cherry Street in Toledo with paving stones.
Rita married Robert James Halloran, her high school sweetheart, in 1944 while he was on a 5-day leave from the Navy where he was a training pilot in Pensacola, FL teaching young pilots to fly the massive PBY’s, the Navy’s largest sea planes. After WWII, the couple returned to Toledo, where Bob graduated from the University of Toledo and joined the Surface Combustion Division of the Midland Ross Corporation, which was his employer until he retired.
Rita had six children, the oldest and youngest, Michael and David , who passed before their time. The remaining children are Daniel (wife Mona), Patricia, Timothy (wife Crista), and Sharon (husband Paul Wilcox). She is survived by 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Rita was an active and successful Realtor in Owosso, MI, Toledo, OH and Naples, FL for over 40 years. In Naples she worked for Downing Frye Realty until she gave up her license at age 82.
The family will accept visitors at Fuller Funeral Home,1625 Pine Ridge Road in Naples on Friday, October 13th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 14th at 11 am at St. William Catholic Church, 750 Seagate Dr. in Naples. Interment will follow on Monday, October 16th at St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Owosso, MI.
