Robert E. "Eddie" Rush

Robert E Rush, known by everyone as Eddie, passed away Thursday, January 11.
His wife Cindy and two daughters, Kelli and Jennifer, were at his bedside in Avow Hospice in Naples when he succumbed to his illness.
Eddie was born August 12, 1960, in Rockingham, NC. His family moved to Rockville, Maryland during his infancy. He grew up in Rockville and graduated from Magruder High School. He attended Towson University in Maryland where he was on the Dean’s list every quarter. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and minored in Accounting.
Eddie came to Marco Island in 1989 and soon moved to Naples where he established his own Accounting firm, specializing in Tax Returns and Bookkeeping. He was an enrolled IRS Agent.
It was in Naples that he met Cindy Jo Needham, his future wife. They were married June 5, 1999. A devoted family man, he spent every spare moment he could muster participating in the girls’ activities. Eddie was active in the governing body of his neighborhood, and in professional associations to which he belonged. In addition to his wife and children, survivors include his parents, David and Betty Rush of Marco Island, brother David (Jill) of Alaska sister Vicky Harris (Dean) of NC, Uncles Steve of Ft Myers, Jerry (Linda) of Sarasota, Bob Whitted (Carolyn) of Hartsville, SC. Others are Chad (Jessica) Lowes of Naples and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Eddie possessed an enviable sense of humor and was an avid newspaper reader. He often joked about reading the obituary column first, as he put it, “to see if I was mentioned. If I wasn’t I would open the office and it would be business as usual.” It won’t be business as usual, but Eddie Rush leaves us a legacy of love, peace and a strong sense of humor.
Services will be Friday, January 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Rd, Naples. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to AVOW Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105.
