Rosanne Joan Werges

Rosanne Joan Werges, 70, of Naples and San Rafael, CA, died January 9 at NCH Hospital after suffering a massive cerebral hemorrhage at her Naples home on December 28.

Rosanne was born in Brainerd, MN, received a BA in Social Work from the University of Minnesota and later a BA in journalism from San Francisco State University. In the San Francisco Bay Area, she was a managing editor/publisher of children’s educational science activity books at Symbiosis Book and an editor/publisher of educational textbooks at Continental Press. She wrote two children's books published by Symbiosis Books, “Tina’s Science Notebook” and “Animal Masks and Hats.”

In Naples, she served as editor of the Naples Garden Club award-winning newsletter and as a house chairman for the Club's annual house and garden tour. She was also a docent for adult and children's tours at Artis-Naples for several years, tutored English in Naples' middle schools and taught English for Habitat for Humanity.

She is survived by her son, Thomas P. Werges of Oakland, CA; her daughter, Michelle Farnsworth and a grand-daughter, Chloe Farnsworth, both of San Rafael, CA; and a brother, David Magnan of Emerald Isle, NC. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas M. Werges, a San Francisco physician.

Rosanne and her subsequent partner of 27 years, Harold Trimmer, moved to Naples in 2001, and split their time between homes in Naples and San Rafael. They also previously resided in Mill Valley, Sausalito and Kenwood, CA.

Funeral services will be held in San Rafael, CA. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in Naples at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Rosanne's favorite charity, St Jude Children's Hospital, are suggested in her memory.
