March 11, 1927 ~ October 6, 2017 (age 90)

The Piano Brothers

William A. "Bill" Silver, Jr., 90, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed peacefully on October 6th at his daughter’s home on Marco Island. Born March 11, 1927, son of Henrietta Bruneni and William A. Silver, Bill enjoyed his childhood in Fort Wayne, IN. He later went to college at Indiana University. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII as seaman first class.

Soon after his service, he owned the 3rd Dairy Queen in the state of Indiana (Ft. Wayne) for over 30 years. The summer days were filled with ice cream and customers, while the winter days were spent selling and leasing cars at Collins Oldsmobile.

After retiring to Naples, FL in 1978, Bill enjoyed the beach, fishing, and working as a chauffeur at the Marriott Marco Beach Resort, then eventually delivering flowers for his daughter’s business, Marco Island Florist. His stories, friendliness, and humor will be greatly missed. He touched the lives of many; he was deeply loved and admired.

Bill was preceded in death by the love of his life, Lois E. (Dreyer) Silver. He leaves behind his children; Stan (Jane) Silver of Rome City, IN, Jan (Kevin) Farlee of Ft. Wayne, IN, Nancy (Joe) Carrington of Marco Island, FL; sister, Greta (Larry) McComb of Auburn, IN; grandchildren, Stephanie, Shane, Matthew, David and Elizabeth; great grandchildren, Nicholas, Collin, Emily, Savannah, Matthew, Madison, Laila, Owen, and Chloe; along with extended family and friends he has cherished forever.

Services are private. Consider contributions in Bill's memory to The Marco Lutheran Church, 525 North Collier Blvd, Marco Island, Fl 34145; Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Ln, Naples, FL 34105 or the charity of your choice.
