Alberta W. “Bert” Boyd, 100, went to be with her Lord on August 23, 2017. Bert, an only child, was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 19, 1916 to Charles A. and Helen M. “Nellie”

Myers. As a young girl, Bert grew up in the church and her faith continued throughout her long life.

In 1941, Bert married William J. Boyd also of Philadelphia. They enjoyed fifty-nine years together as they raised their two children, traveled and involved themselves in service to their

church and community organizations, in particular, Shriners Hospital for Children of Philadelphia. In 1982, they relocated to Cape May, N.J. and subsequently, Cape May Court

House where William passed away in 2000. In 2008, Bert moved to Naples and made her residence at The Carlisle of Naples for eight years. She then moved to Tuscany Villa of Naples

and finally, Solaris Healthcare-Imperial.

Bert was an active member of The Women’s Club of Cape May for many years. She also served as the president and treasurer of her Cape May Court House neighborhood community.

She loved many things in life: dancing, singing, crafts, bridge, cards, boardgames, bowling and the beach. She was energetic, fun-loving, generous and loved people. Bert had a wonderful sense of humor and an ever-present twinkle in her bright blue eyes! Bert’s favorite line and the secret to her longevity was to “keep moving” and that she did! In

her young adult life, she worked in the offices of Sears-Roebuck Company in Philadelphia and for the US Government during WW II. She enjoyed the theater and the night life with friends.

She met her husband on the dance floor! She was extremely active in PTA during her children’s schooling — organizing school events such as talent shows, fashion galas and swim

parties. She continued her active lifestyle even in later years with participation in Wii bowling, bridge games, talent and fashion shows, darts, crafts, Scrabble and sing-alongs. She was a

supporter of The Shriners and a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church (Cape May,NJ) and North Naples United Methodist Church (Naples, FL).

Preceded in death by her husband, William, surviving family members include her son, Scott W. (Pamela) Boyd of Naples, FL; daughter, Deborah F. Boyd of Naples, FL; grandchildren:

Brook W. (Jennifer) Boyd of Las Vegas, NV., Colby E. Boyd of Mantua, NJ and Jodi M (Jason) Winslow of Maple Shade, NJ.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 12:30 pm in the Chapel of North Naples United Methodist Church, 6000 Goodlette-Frank Road, Naples, FL 34109.
