Mr. Antonio Faga, age 67 of Naples, Fl and formerly of Utica, NY, passed away at his home in the arms of his loving wife after a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, October 3, 2018.
He was born in Utica, NY on July 7,1951 son of the late Louis & Louise (Aliasso) Faga. He was raised and educated in local schools, received his B.A. from Union College and his Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law. Tony began his career in Utica and was a prominent attorney and represented many prestigious organizations. He was admitted to the Florida Bar Assn in 1995 and continued a dual practice in Utica & Naples.
Tony was very proud to say his career had come full circle. While his recent high profile defense of Mark Sievers saw him interviewed by 48 Hours and Nancy Grace, a driving force in his will to live was seeing the exoneration of his client. His career took off almost as soon as he was admitted to the bar as a
defense attorney in the Tri-Willow Nursery Murders; defending John Lennon’s killer, Mark David Chapman’s right to die during his hunger strike in Attica Prison; and working alongside F. Lee Bailey on a case before the United States Supreme Court. These and other cases in the highest courts of both New York and Florida highlight a legal career befitting his nickname “Legal Eagle”.
In 1995 Tony established Faga Law Group in Naples, FL. During this time he expanded his legal family adding Jennifer Mummert, his paralegal, and later adding Michael Mummert and Jeremiah Walters along with his family of support staff. Through his firm partner, Michael, Tony’s passion and legacy as the Legal Eagle will live on through Faga Law Group.
On August 8, 1992, he married his soulmate, the former Kimberly Carolan. The couple shared a 26 year union filled with true devotion and commitment to each other and their family. Among Tony’s favorite pastimes were playing golf at Olde Florida Golf Club, cooking, and making wine with friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Kimberly; children, Louis and Gianmarco Faga of Utica, NY, David (Heather) Carolan of Raleigh, NC & Kristin Carolan of Naples. Kristin, being the closest, took on a lot of the responsibilities of everyday life for her parents for which they are eternally grateful. Grandchildren are Saoirse Faga, Ava Carolan,
Teagan, Hudson & Saylor Carolan. Mother-in-law Tina Carolan whose help & support was invaluable, brother-in-law Richard (Christine) Carolan, nieces Alana & Victoria and Godmother Dr. Angela Elefante.
We would like to thank our extended family who walked this journey
daily with us, Jennifer Sadallah, Vince Lasprogata, Jennifer & Michael Mummert, Tom & Kathleen Craig, Tom & Tracy Wildenhaus, Joe Parisi & Phil Prinzi.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 12th 6pm at Fuller’s Funeral Home 1625 Pine Ridge Rd, Naples. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Tony’s name to Royal Palm Academy 16100 Livingston Rd., Naples, FL 34110. They are another part of our support system.
