Arlene Artz passed away peacefully in her home in Naples, Florida on Sunday, February 25, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. She was born August 12, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. After graduation, she taught speech and journalism at East Peoria High School, then was a young adult director of the Milwaukee YWCA. She was married to Richard N. Artz, a World War II veteran, who attended Lawrence University and was President of E. G. Artz, Inc. They raised their five children on Oconomowoc Lake, Wisconsin. She was a former member of the Oconomowoc Lake Club, Oconomowoc Golf Club, Kettle Moraine Curling Club (she was skip of her curling team which led to a Wisconsin state championship) and Blue Mound Golf & Country Club.

Arlene has resided in Naples, Florida since 1978. She was a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, Country Club of Naples (she played 18 holes of golf until she was 90 years old) and Moorings Presbyterian Church. She was an avid bridge player (never “crab your cards”) and voracious reader. She has traveled the world with family and friends. Her belief system was an all encompassing view which brought together the natural and spiritual mysteries. Arlene was gracious to all who met her, and she taught her children to be grateful for every day. She led by example.

She is survived by her five children: Amy Artz Joslin, Deb Artz, Rick Artz (Julie), Susan Kirsch (Bill) and Peggy Tullio (Bob). Her grandchildren: Randy Joslin, Jessica Joslin, Nick Tullio, Zack Tullio and great-grandchild Hunter Neer. Her step grandson, William Kirsch (Marianne) and step granddaughter Mary Steege. Her step great-grandchildren, Matthew Minue, Alex Minue, Hayley Powers and Brianna Powers. Her sister Roberta Protzmann (Dick) and her nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Sylvia and Ernest Rasmusson, her sister Phyllis Huffman (Bill) and by her beloved husband Richard N. Artz.

The family would like to thank the Avow Home Hospice Center in Naples, Florida for their kind and experienced help. Arlene’s family will gather for a private service.
