Arlene Barbara (Waite) Josephson

Arlene Barbara (Waite) Josephson passed away in Naples, Florida on April 29, 2021. Arlene was born in Dunkirk, New York, on May 14, 1930, to the late Gerald and Catherine Waite. Her husband of 50 years, Gordon Josephson predeceased her in 1999. She is also predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia Tolman. Arlene is survived by her daughter, Annette Allison (George) of Westford, MA, and her son, Lynn Josephson (Kathy) of Naples, FL. She is also survived by 5 Grandsons: Micah, Ben, and Joe Tolman and John and Drew Josephson as well as 7 Great Grandchildren. Arlene is survived by 4 brothers: Ken (Janice), Jerry, Larry, and Don (Sue) Waite. Jerry’s wife, Diane passed away previously as well as Arlene’s only sister, Dolores Fessenden and brother-in-law, John. Arlene is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

 After Arlene’s 3 children were enrolled in school, she returned to Fredonia State College to complete her degree in Elementary Education. In subsequent years, she taught 1st grade in Jamestown, Sinclairville, and Cassadaga, NY.  

In retirement, Arlene and her husband spent time in Naples, Florida, escaping the Western New York winters. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

The family would like to thank Aston Gardens at Pelican Marsh, Memory Care Unit, especially Johanna Espinosa and her staff. Special thanks to  Avow Hospice for their unwavering care. 

Arlene will be interred along side her husband and daughter in the Cassadaga Cemetery, Cassadaga, NY.  A memorial service celebrating Arlene’s life will be held at a later date in Cassadaga.
