Tribute

Beverly A. Brennan of Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2021, after a long battle with melanoma cancer. Her husband John was at her side.

Beverly was born to the late Wilbur and Vivian Stilwell, on September 26, 1942, in Rockaway, NJ.  Beverly graduated from Morris Hills Regional High School in 1960.  While attending school she met the love of her life, James “John” Brennan.  After high school they continued dating while John served in the US Navy Submarine service.  During that time Beverly made 8 dives on the USS Diablo.  She received her Dolphins making her an “Honorary Submariner”.

After she graduated from high school Beverly started her career in the Secretarial field.  She started working for Allied Chemical, a large Corporation, in Morristown, NJ.  Through the years she worked her way up to become the Executive Secretary for the VP of Sales for General Chemical, a Division of Allied, in New York City.

Bev and John married in 1965.  Bev’s career went on hold when she gave birth to their son Kelly in 1968 and their daughter Cindy in 1971.  As the kids got older, they got involved with team swimming at the Lakeland Hills YMCA in the winter, where Bev served on the Board of Directors. During the summer Bev ran the swim team at Park Lakes where she also ran the refreshment stand. At that time, she also started playing team tennis.  Over the years she played on several conference winning teams in New Jersey.

In 2001 John retired and they moved to Naples, FL.  Here her tennis became her full-time passion playing for “The Strand” tennis team.  Here again she played on several championship teams. Everyone knew when Beverly was on the courts!  Like she is quoted in her high school yearbook. “Quiet, like an H-bomb”, talking, talking, talking. She loved to party and have a good time!  As she has often said “My time here at The Strand has been truly awesome!”.

Over the years Beverly enjoyed her many worldwide travels with John.  Their travels took them to Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, Asia, South America, and Australia.

Beverly was predeceased by her father Wilbur, her mother Vivian and her brother Raymond.

Beverly is survived by her husband John, her son Kelly and his wife Linda. Her daughter Cindy and her husband Mike and her loving grandchildren Ryan, Isabella, Samantha and Brennan.

There will be a “Celebration of Life” to honor Bev at The Strand, Naples, FL. On June 26th at 6PM.

In lieu of flowers please donate to Avow Hospice or the charity of your choice.
