Bruce Edison Langton, 87, of Naples, Fl. Passed away peacefully on Monday Nov. 5, 2018 surrounded by his wife and children.
Born in Columbus, OH on May 10, 1931, he received both his degree in Economics and his MBA from Stanford University. After serving in the U.S. Army, he went on to pursue a distinguished career in Finance at IBM, where he worked for more than 30 years. At IBM he was controller of World Trade Corporation and travelled to 72 countries during a 10 year period. Later, he was Assistant Treasurer of the IBM Corporation.
He was a dedicated and loving husband to his wife Merrilee for 65 years, the father of 4 children: Theo Lori Kelly, Scott, Michael, and a much-loved “Papapa” to his eight grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Kay Gifford. He was predeceased by his parents, Homer and Catherine Langton, and his older brother, John.
He was an avid fisherman, golfer and gardener, and lover of tall tales and puzzles. His wonderful sense of Humor left many smiles in its wake.
A Memorial Service is planned for 11:00am November 30, in the chapel at the Naples United Church of Christ, 5200 Crayton Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
