C. Edmund Hein, 90 years of age, died on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Ed was a loving husband to Joyce Mortenson Hein for 60 years. Ed was born on April 1, 1929 in Kiel, Wisconsin, the son of Ruth Goltry and Edmund Waldemar Hein. Ed was preceded in death by his brother and sisters Elaine, Lois, Elizabeth, Beverly, and Cliff.
Ed received degrees from the University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh and Peabody- Vanderbilt University. Ed was a teacher in the Neenah School system and Professor of Education in the field of library instruction at the Peabody College of Education and Human Development.
Ed served in the Army during the Korean War and was based in Germany. He also served in the Merchant Marine sailing on the Great Lakes.
Ed and Joyce travelled extensively around the world, visiting many countries including Europe, Morocco, Egypt, Jerusalem, and Russia. Ed and Joyce also travelled extensively in the US and Canada.
Ed and Joyce lived in many places throughout their life together. They enjoyed living by water- Lake Winnebago, Horsehead Lake and the Fox River in Wisconsin and the Gulf of Mexico near Fort Myers Beach, Florida. They spent many summers in Nashville and theSmoky Mountains area while Ed earned his degree at Peabody- Vanderbilt and then taught at that institution.
Private internment will take place in Wisconsin. The family would appreciate donations made in memory of Ed to the AAMDS International Foundation for further research into aplasctic anemia and myelodysplastic with Sideroblastic anemia at https://www.aamds.org/
