Dr. Malik was a well-loved, accomplished, highly successful and dedicated Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon of 33 years. She had offices in Naperville, Oakbrook and Woodridge, Illinois before moving to Southwest Florida in 1996 and then continuing her practice in Naples, Florida. She was an exemplary doctor. She was thoughtful and considerate and had an impeccable bedside manner. Her patients had to wait their turn to see her, but it was well worth it. She was a talented and remarkable surgeon. Her care for others was outstanding.

Carlyn was also an accomplished artist. She created many beautiful oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings in her spare time. She loved drawing with colored pencils, chalks and charcoal, but painting was her passion. One of her other favorite pastimes was making her own greeting cards. They have been cherished greatly by many friends and family throughout the years. Her creativity didn’t stop there; she was an amazing cook as well. Her specialties were many old-world Czech and Bohemian dishes & desserts, as well as specialties such as coq au vin, Greek lamb dinners and sides and of course cake! Carlyn was an amazing cake decorator. Another favorite pastime was gardening; from the gorgeous and aromatic lilacs, apple and cherry trees and wonderful concord grapes that flourished in their backyard in Naperville, IL to a garden of Eden in their Naples home that included: coffee plants, pineapple, orange trees, lime and lemon trees, grapefruit trees and mango as well as bay leaf, nutmeg, cinnamon and a variety of beautiful palms and flowering hibiscus. Her favorite flowering trees were their frangipani and stephanotis.  Dr. Malik enjoyed listening to the many hits of the group Chicago. Her cousin is one of the founding members of the band. Her favorite song by Chicago was “Colour My World”. Dr. Malik enjoyed vacation destinations with family on Lake Michigan, Walt Disney World, the North Woods of Wisconsin and the U.S. Virgin Islands; St. John’s Caneel Bay resort. Her dry sense of humor was colorful and bar-none and her laugh was boisterous and infectious! She was a Christian and proud member of the Republican party.

Dr. Malik was predeceased by loving spouse Jerry, son Dr. Steven Malik and grandchild John Andrew, loving dogs Remy, Clouseau, Wolfie, and Captain, precious cats Kitty, Teddy, and Boogie, beautiful Macaw Rukk and sweet rabbit Lulu.
