Be the first to offer your condolences on Carolyn's Tribute Wall
Carolyn Martin Kelley, 81, of Naples, FL passed away on Friday, March 8. Carolyn was born July 21, 1937, in NY, NY, to Victor and Ethel May Martin. Eldest sister to June and Vicki, Carolyn graduated from Baldwin High School in Baldwin, NY, and attended Hofstra College in Hempstead, NY. She married William Kelley on January 25th, 1958. Carolyn was the light and love of Bill's life. Never wavering in his loyalty or admiration for Carolyn, Bill stood by her and Carolyn's (Martin) family as solidly and tolerantly as a tree that bends with the wind. Loving mother to sons, Ron and Tom, both born and raised in Freeport, NY and beloved grandmother to Connor and Arya, mother-in-law to Touran. Carolyn spent as much time with all of them as she could in their respective homes in Colorado and Idaho. Carolyn possessed a keen mind and a sharp intellect and dreamed of being an architect in an era when opportunities for women were limited. She retired from Grumman Aerospace Corporation in 1996, and relocated with her husband to South Dorset, VT, and Hilton Head Island, SC, before settling in Naples FL in 2014, just down the road from her youngest sister, Vicki. Carolyn, a passionate competitive bowler before being sidelined by a knee injury, was also a Life Master bridge player. A very smart and loving woman, Carolyn was generous and kind with her home and energy, with a strong and sense of humor, always ready to share a moment and a cup of coffee. She will be deeply and forever missed by her friends and family. A service will be held at the Fuller Funeral Home in East Naples on Saturday 23 March, 2019 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, in honor of Carolyn’s generous spirit, please make any donations to Habitat for Humanity of Collier County.
