Catherine Marie “Kay” Hackett, age 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on the morning of March 25, 2023 in Naples, FL. Kay was born on February 20, 1930 in Rockville Centre, NY to Italian immigrants, Rocco and Angelina Buda. She received her BS in nursing from Keuka college in 1953 and passionately worked as a nurse until age 81. A Florida resident since 1973, Kay has touched countless lives through her work as a psychiatric nurse and through her proud program memberships. Her love of people, passion for helping others, bright personality, and infectious humor will always be remembered by those who were blessed to know her. Kay was a long time member of Saint Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, and her faith was dear to her heart. Some of her hobbies included reading, watching classic movies, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Kay is survived by her only son, George William (Bill) Hackett Jr.; daughter-in-law, Maria Hackett; 3 grandchildren, Lindsay Hackett, Catherine Hackett and George William “Billy” Hackett III and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George William “Bill” Hacket Sr.; beloved daughter, Jilyne Iona-Marie Hackett and siblings, Mary, Dominick, Alphonse, Frank, and Rosina.
A wake will be held at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Rd, Naples on Wednesday, March 29, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 5260 28th Avenue S.W. Naples on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Holy Rood Catholic Cemetery (Chapel) Westbury in New York early next week.
