Charles Herbert Martin, 91, of Naples, Florida and Hilliard, Ohio passed away June 19, 2020. He was born March 15, 1929 in Amba, Kentucky.
Herb is survived by his wife Carole Dugan Martin, brother Glen (Shirlene) Martin, children Karen (Bill) Nelson, Melina (Toshi) Hara, Melissa (Reese Southard) Taylor, stepchildren Cathy (Jim) Bumbledare, Mark (Bonnie) McNamara, Lynn (Dwight Penn) McNamara, Colleen (Robert Liddell) Smith, nieces, nephews, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Osa Robinette Martin, his brother Zane Martin, and his sister Mavis Martin Wilson.
Herb graduated from Betsy Layne High School in Betsy Layne, Kentucky in 1947. He was employed by Lazarus, Sears, and Sanesse Services in retail sales.
Herb danced his way into Carole’s heart thirty-three years ago when they met at a ballroom dance class. The two of them enjoyed traveling across the United States and spending time with their family. Herb’s family and friends appreciated his humor and his creativity which was expressed in ways such as designing Lazarus’s window displays and building and painting handcrafted gifts such as footstools and dollhouses.
Visitation for family and friends will take place June 23, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home East Naples, 4735 Tamiami Trail East, Naples, FL 34112. A memorial service where family and friends can share memories will take place from 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The 3:30 p.m. memorial service will be livestreamed for friends and family who are unable to attend in person at www.fullernaples.com.
