Clifford Eugene Pundt

Clifford Eugene Pundt, Born January 27, 1929 in Belvidere, Illinois to Edward and Erna (Peters) Pundt. Passed away peacefully at the age of 92, on Sept 6, 2021 at his home in Naples, Florida.

Clifford married Lorna White on Dec 3, 1948. They were together for 68 years.

Having quit school at 16 due to his father’s health, he ran the family business until going on to work at Quaker Oats Co. In 1953 he went to work for Sundstrand Aviation in Rockford, Illinois. He received his GED in 1954. During his career he became one of Sundstrand’s first Associate Engineers, retiring in 1989 after 36 years of service.

Cliff was a 4th ward alderman for Belvidere in the 60’s. He was confirmed in the Emanuel Lutheran Church, was a member of the Lions Club of Belvidere, and became an exalted ruler for the BPOE Elks club of Belvidere.

He truly enjoyed fishing and golf, but most of all he loved being surrounded by his family. Whether it be a picnic on a sandbar at Castle Rock Lake or a Sunday dinner, he was content when all were together.

Cliff was a kind soul and would help anybody whenever help was needed. He loved playing bridge and continued to play (and win) up until just a few months ago. Cliff even conquered the cell phone, being totally deaf these last few years, he communicated by texting and e-mails. (We will miss his daily updates and jocularity.  He was still very sharp and quick witted.)

Cliff was predeceased by both parents, a stepfather, A. Peter Ganser; brother, Lewis Pundt; his beloved wife, Lorna who passed in 2017, aunts, uncles and many brothers and sisters in-law.

Survivors include son, Jeffrey (Marsha) Pundt of Marco Island Florida; daughter, Prudence (Daryl) Thompson of New Lisbon, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Nicole (Peter) Cisewski of Farmington, Minnesota, Jesse Edward Pundt of Yucca Valley, California, Rebekah (Neil) Jones of Raymore Missouri, Perry Jason (Lindsey) Bennett of Canton, Ohio; and eight great grandchildren.

Cliff and Lorna moved to the Carlisle retirement community in Naples Florida in 2012. They lived in Belvidere, Roscoe, then Rockford Illinois prior to their move to Naples.
