Danny Ray Donaldson, 80, of Naples, FL passed away on August 13, 2017 at Avow Hospice of Naples. Born June 15, 1937 in Bloomdale, OH, he was son of the late Virgil and Vevah (Bales) Donaldson. Dan graduated from the former Bloomdale High School in 1955 where he was class president and an outstanding athlete. As a graduate of Bowling Green University, his distinguished career included positions as principal of Luckey Elementary and Lake Elementary; Superintendent of Wolf Creek, Fort Recovery and Wapakoneta City Schools from which he retired. Dan was known for his quick wit and humor as well as his shuffleboard skills; he won many state and local championships while in Naples.

He married Jan Sweebe on October 12, 1990. She provided loving and tireless care during Dan’s 8 year struggle with dementia. He is survived by Jan, his son, Dane, and daughter, Angie; and five grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his brothers, Thurman, Garold, Virgil, Richard “Dick”, and his sister, Norma Jean.

A private farewell was held by the immediate family. No other services are scheduled.

Jan would like to thank her neighbors, church members and Doak for their support. Special thanks to Avow Hospice for their comfort and care in the last two weeks of Dan’s life. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
