David M. Brown, 70, of Bonita Springs/Estero, Florida passed peacefully Saturday, June 5, 2021, with his best friend and love of 51 years, Linda, and his little dog, Rylee, by his side. His challenges with cancer never crippled his love, killed his friendships, or silenced his courage. As Garth Brooks says in his song, The Dance: “…I could have missed the pain, But I’d have had to miss the dance.” David was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary and Lyle Brown, and his son, Matthew. He will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved him, especially, his wife, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, their spouses, fourteen nieces and nephews, aunts, and his entire E3 family!
Dave was a graduate of Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh and served as a corporate attorney for Alcoa of America and Alcoa of Australia. Upon moving to Florida, he worked in the construction industry, lighting and home theatre design. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-found E3 Design/Building Sciences, fulfilling his passion for creating energy efficient and sustainable home environments. Dave loved all things high-tech, supported by lots and lots of research and delivered with a wry sense of humor.
Dave embraced life quietly, methodically, and with deep insight and compassion. He loved travel – experiencing new places and people all over the world! From an early age he enjoyed sports and driving great cars. His curiosity of how all things functioned and are interconnected permeated every aspect of his life - cooking, art, music, reading voraciously, puzzles/games, and the list goes on – and was grounded in his incredibly patient and accepting spirit.
He was most grateful for his journey and long-time friendship with Bill W.
