Donald Paul Hamm

February 7, 1944 ~ January 19, 2023 (age 78) 78 Years Old


Donald Hamm passed away on January 19, 2023, at the age of 78. Donald’s larger-than-life personality and huge heart made his sudden passing a shock to so many that loved him. Donald lived in Lely Resort in Naples Florida and Hudson, New York. Donald is survived by his wife of 53 years Mary jean (Giambalvo) Hamm, His son Daniel Patrick Hamm, daughter-in-law Sharyn Ann Hamm, daughter Stacy Elizabeth Hamm, grandchildren Shane Matthew Douthit 19, Colin Stephen Douthit 18, Lauren Inez Hamm 18, Lydia Rose Douthit 16 and Mason Levi Hamm 14. Donald Raised his two children Daniel and Stacy in Colts Neck New Jersey, he was active and integral in both their lives.

Donald attended Niagara University as an ROTC cadet and earned his BA in Political Science. Donald then went on to proudly serve in the Army in Vietnam from 1967-1968, and was awarded a bronze star for his service. Donald returned from Vietnam and Married his beautiful bride Mary Jean on October 4, 1969. Donald’s Career took them on many adventures all over the world. His extensive career consists of Sealand, Trans Freightlines, Puerto Rico Marine Management, and American Stevedoring. Finally, Donald retired as president of PNCT in Port Newark. He was greatly respected in the stevedoring industry and has left behind many great friends.

Donald enjoyed his retirement by playing golf, and dinners out with his wife and wonderful friends in Columbia County, NY, and Naples Florida. Donald also enjoyed his grandchildren and never let them want for anything. Whenever possible you could catch Donald cheering for his Grandchildren at a football game, Soccer game, Swim meets, etc. Donald will be greatly missed by all five of them.

Services include a celebration of life reception at the Classics Country Club at Lely Golf and Country Club in Naples, Florida 4 pm January 23, 2023.

A Celebration of Life reception in Hudson, New York and burial with Military Honors at Sarasota National Ceremony will all take place at a later date.
