Donald E. Walker of Naples, Fl., formerly of Coventry RI, died suddenly at home on July 5, 2017. Born in Sterling, CT, he was the son of the late Everett and Katherine (McDonald) Walker.

He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Anne (Gibbons) Walker, his children Michael Walker and his wife Patricia of West Greenwich, RI; David Walker of Hampton, NH; and Nancy Hayden and her husband Charles of North Haven, CT.  He has 2 grandchildren, Charles Walker of New York, NY and Michaela Schuering and her husband Steven of Villa Park, IL.

Don excelled in sports especially baseball. He was offered a contract with the Boston Braves but declined and instead attended and received his degree from the University of Connecticut. While at UCONN, he joined the ROTC and upon graduation, joined the Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, he worked for General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division for 30 years. Don was active in coaching Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball as well the Boy Scouts. Most recently he enjoyed golfing with the Island Walk Golf league in Naples Florida. He was a charter member of the Msgr. Blessing Council Knights of Columbus in Coventry, RI and recently became a member of the St Agnes Chapter in Naples, Fl.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7PM on Wednesday July 12, 2017 at the Iannotti Funeral Home 415 Washington Street (Route 117), Coventry, RI.  Funeral on Thursday July 13, 2017 from Iannotti Funeral Home at 9:00 with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sts. John and Paul Church, in Coventry, RI at 10:00.  Burial with military honors follows at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.  In lieu of flowers please make donations in Donald’s name to Paul Todd Charities PO Box 111957 Naples Fl. 34108.  A memorial Mass will be celebrated locally in Naples  on Tuesday, August 1st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church Chapel, 7775 Vanderbilt Beach Road, Naples, FL.
