Dorothy Ellen Petrick, 89, of Naples, Fl. passed away peacefully in Hospice care on December 22, 2019. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Ellen was the daughter of the late Charles Clayton and Dorothy Elizabeth (Thiem) Day. She had one sister, the late Nancy Louise Geerling.
Ellen was married to the late William (Bill) John Petrick for 49 years and lived most of her married life in The Chicago area. Bill and Ellen retired to the Naples area over 25 years ago where Ellen was active in the Deauville Community and the United Methodist East church with her dearest friend Beryl Melluci for the last 20 years.
Ellen will be dearly missed by her 3 loving children Linda (John) Burke of Texas, Bill of Naples and Dave of Arizona. Eight grandchildren, Shelly, Jeff, Stacey, Billy, Zach, Davey, Danny and Katie and 12 great grandchildren.
Some of Ellen’s last words were “I’ve lived a long happy life, no crying, be happy!” Ellen was loved by all she touched in her community and had many fond friends and neighbors. So at 5:00 pm today (and everyday) raise a glass with Ellen, Mom or Grandma and clink her Vodka Gimlet because we are sure they will be flowing in heaven!
A Celebration of her life will be on Saturday, January 18, 2020, with a Mix & Mingle at 10am, Service at 11am and luncheon at noon at Fuller Funeral Home at 4735 Tamiami Trail East, Naples. Final committal is private. Donations in Ellen’s name can be made to Cat Rescues, ENUMC or Avow Hospice. For online condolences visit www.FullerNaples.com.
