Eileen Barbara Carter went peacefully to her heavenly reward on April 21, 2022, at the age of 78 surrounded by her loved ones and listening to her favorite, Elvis. She is now breathing deep, running in flower fields, bedazzling and bedazzled, safe in the arms of her beloved Savior. She was a dearly loved daughter, sister, mother, Grammie, Great Grammie, and friend. She was loved by her family "a bushel and a peck" and "to the moon and back." She was born to Frank and Florence (Thompson) Carter in Brougham, Ontario, Canada. Known for her adventurous and tenacious spirit, at 15 she left Canada with her sister’s family to live in California. She quit school to help raise her nieces and nephew and ended up many years later going back and completing her education all while working and raising three children as a single mother. Her work ethic was impeccable. Her dedication to her family unwavering. Eileen loved to craft. crochet, garden, and go for long walks (she never sat still). Before her health declined you would always find her working either in the church nursery or church kitchen. Her indomitable spirit and garrulous nature made her the much-loved friend of many. She could always grasp your attention with a witty story about her life. She loved Jesus, serving Him and serving His church. Lately you would find her every Saturday morning at the Farmer’s Market with her daughter and son-in-law just soaking up the wonder of life. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. They were the pride and joy of her life. She was preceded in death by her father Frank, her mother Florence, brother Glenn Carter, sister Marion Peters, brother Eldon Carter, and niece Quinderia (Quindy Lee) Puckrin. She is survived by her sister Diane Puckrin (Keith), her children Teresa Hemmer (Dan), Buck Knoch (Christie), and Cherilyn Spees, and her beloved grandchildren Ashley, Kristen, Sydney, Aubrie, Jaxon, Trace, and Laci, and her great grandchildren Dante, Josiah, Novalie, and Juni, along with many nieces and nephews and her dearest friends.
We will celebrate her life on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 1:00pm at Covenant Church of Naples located at 6926 Trail Blvd, Naples, FL 34108. Eileen was vibrant and not a fan of black – she requested that all wear bright spring colors to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers (she was allergic), donations can be made to the Deacon’s Benevolence Fund at Covenant Church of Naples or AVOW Hospice in Naples, Florida.
