Ernesto Rivera, age 89 of Naples passed away early Tuesday morning February 23, 2021. Ernie was born February 8, 1932 in Narantito, Puerto Rico. He moved to Brooklyn, New York at the age of 17. He learned to work as an auto mechanic and collision repair. Ernie then worked as a ground mechanic in the airline industry at JFK International Airport in N.Y.C.
He retired in 1993 and moved to Naples where he became the neighborhood handy man.
Ernie enjoyed traveling with his family going on trips and cruises to the Caribbean, Europe and Hawaii. He enjoyed baseball, football, fishing and beer. Ernie brought a smile to everyone he came in contact with always telling jokes and pranks.
Ernie was active in church functions at St. Agnes and was proud of being a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. Ernie is survived by his loving wife Carmelina of 70 years; two sons, Ernie Jr., Albert, two daughters, Sonjia and Nancy and seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
