Gavino Cossa passed away on November 21, 2018 at the Carlisle of Naples, Florida having recently celebrated his 92nd birthday. He was born on November 9, 1926 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Rosalia and Salvatore Cossa and resided there during his youth. He married Veronica Pugliese on November 3, 1945 and they raised their daughter and two sons in Roselle and Cranford, New Jersey. After residing in Rahway, New Jersey for fourteen years, he and his wife relocated to Naples, Florida in 2001. Gavino was predeceased by his wife Veronica and his siblings Rosalia, Jean, Sam and Angelo. He is survived by his sister Frances, daughter Barbara Fink and her husband Stanley, his son John and wife Gail, son Richard and wife Kathy, grandchildren Linda and Christopher Fink, Sarah Cossa, John and Benjamin Cossa, and great grandchildren Biagio, Max, and Nicholas Del Boccio, Persephone, Daphne and Cecily Cossa, and Kalista and Xanthe Fink. Gavino was a veteran of the Merchant Marine and the United States Army during WWII. Skilled with tools, he showcased his creativity and artistic touch in the many projects he undertook. Considered a talented “renaissance man” by his family, he painted wall murals, built clocks, telescopes, and steam engines as well as model boats and airplanes, and practiced card magic. In his later years he enjoyed playing poker, pinochle, and having lunches out with his family. Gavino will be interred in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, New Jersey beside his wife Veronica.
