George W. Gallipeau, Jr., 89, of Naples, formerly of Newport, RI died on June 1, 2013.
He was an honorably discharged veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in Europe from 1945-1946 during WWII.
George was a graduate of the Rhode Island College of Education where he earned a B.S. degree. He was also a graduate of Union College in Schnectady, NY where he earned an M.S. degree in 1964. George was a physics instructor in Barrington, RI and Portsmouth, RI before retiring to Naples. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, a judge for the American Orchid Society and a HAM radio operator.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; three brothers, Joseph, John, and Guy; one son, George III, his daughter, Mary E. (Mark) Kenney, two granddaughters, Megan and Hanah; and his great-grandson, Chase. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael.
Interment will be in the Newport Memorial Park, Newport, RI.
