Gustave "Gus" Suckow, III, passed away peacefully surrounded by love and family on Monday, March 19th after a 3 year long courageous battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
Born September 22, 1930 in Point Pleasant, NJ to Gus and Dorothy (Herbert) Suckow, Gus was raised with seven brothers and sisters. He graduated from LaSalle Military Academy on Long Island and proudly served his country in the Army National Guard.
Gus and his wife of 65+ years, Betty, spent many years as snowbirds traveling to Florida. They fell in love with Naples and became full time Floridians in September 2006.
Gus retired twice; first as president of Eureka Spring Co., Inc. of NY & NJ after 50 years and again in January of 2018 after 11 joyful years at Sunshine Ace Hardware in East Naples.
"Popstar" will be deeply missed by his wife, Betty (Ready) Suckow; his children, Beth, Steve (Cathy) and Gus (MaryBeth); his grandchildren, Katie (Mike) Giardina, Julie, Becki; and his great-granddaughter, Olivia Jane Giardina.
The Suckow family is eternally grateful to the Wynn family, all of Gus's customers and co-workers at Ace Hardware and to all the caregivers at Avow Hospice.
The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 29th at 10 AM In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Peter the Apostle Church or to Avow Hospice.
