Tribute

H. Robert Cracknell “Bob” passed away in Naples, Florida December 29, 2018, at 87-years-old surrounded by family.

Predeceased by his brother Billy (at age 6), his parents Thomas and Ivy Cracknell, and his sister Nancy Reynolds.

Survived by loving wife, Linda Moore Cracknell; daughter Laurie Horvath; son-in-law Bryan Horvath, and grandsons Jack and Logan; his two nephews and niece Bryan, Jeff Reynolds and Jennifer Bush; his God-daughter and her parents Jaquelyn Walker, Ruth and John Bitler. And of course his beloved Yorkie companion, Abby.

Robert was born on April 27, 1931 in Royal Oak, MI and resided in southeast Michigan. He served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955 aboard the U.S.S. Chauncey during the Korean War. Bob got his Bachelor of Science in 1957 and his Masters of Education at Eastern Michigan University. In 1969 Bob married Judy Hansen and they had one daughter, Laurie. He began his career as an educator teaching high school math in 1957, then served in leadership as a principal in several elementary schools in the Warren Consolidated School District for over 34 years. Bob and Lin married in 1989 and later established dual residency in Canal-Winchester, Ohio and Naples, Florida.

Bob adored reading, was an incredible dog lover and animal whisperer, he loved U of Michigan football but couldn’t watch it if it got too stressful. Bob was an avid sports fan, fostered by his own participation in tennis, golf, baseball, basketball, and football. Bob fought hard and outlived his first liver cancer by eight years, five years longer than predicted. His big smile and dear heart will be missed greatly.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be at 11 A.M. at The First Congregational Church of Naples on Saturday, February 9, 2019.
