Harold E Steffen

December 28, 1934 ~ August 27, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old
Harold “Doc” Steffen, 82, passed away peacefully August 27, 2017. He was born in Wilkesville, OH, and moved to Vanport, PA, as a young child. While many years were spent in Beaver, PA, raising three children with his wife of 62 years, Carol, once empty-nesters they spent 12 years in Columbiana, OH, and then took to the road to travel throughout the United States full time in their RV before landing in Naples, FL.

He was preceded in death by parents, Emil and Marie Steffen; brother, Paul Steffen; and sister, Katherine Dushac. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Steffen; children, Scott (Karen) Steffen, Laurie Igo, Christy (Alix) Brucken; grandchildren, Robert, Erin, Eric, Malorie, Stephanie, Matthew; brothers, Ray and Emil; sister, Eleanor Benedict.

Providing for his family was always top priority, often working 60+ hours a week for Ashland Oil and taking only one sick day his entire career. Along with hard work came many memorable times camping with his family in Myrtle Beach and locally with the camping club. Doc was an avid bowler and enjoyed shooting pool, playing poker, throwing darts and laughing it up with card club.

Once retired, he and his wife were fortunate enough to live out one of their passions and traveled the states in their RV full time. After seeing everything the U.S. had to offer, Naples, FL, became home. Everyone in the neighborhood knew Doc because if he wasn’t riding his bike he was on his golf cart cruising around visiting with all of his friends and neighbors or heading to the clubhouse to play in his favorite poker club… consisting of six women and one other man. Doc was an honorable, hard-working, fun-loving husband, father, brother, friend who will be missed by all.
