Hilda Elizabeth Betts, 97, died June 19, 2018 in her sleep at Ashon Gardens, Naples, Florida. She was formerly of Hagerstown, MD and had been a Naples resident since 2008.
Born November 5, 1920 in Berkley Country W.Va., she was daughter of the late John William and Gertrude Miller Griffin.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elvin Duvall Betts, on May 22, 2000. Hilda is survived by her loving daughters Sandra Kilmon and Judith Schultz. Two cherished granddaughters Deborah Bennett and Cheryle Seilhammer and three beautiful great-grand children, Kevin Bennett, Stephanie Saco and Eric Bennett. She was also blessed to have two great-great grand children.
Hilda was employed by Harper & Row Publishers for 27 years until retiring in 1983. She was a very nurturing soul to her family and friends. In her free time she enjoyed working in her garden with her husband and sharing these bounties with everyone.
Hilda was a faithful parishioner of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Williamsport MD. Involved in many activities within the church and lived her faith daily. Upon her arrival in Naples she was a communicant at St Monica’s Episcopal.
Preceded in death by her parents, Brother John Griffin and Sister Gladys V. Smith.
