Horace Clifton Archer, 74, of Naples, FL, died Friday, July 31, 2020. Formerly of Manchester, Jamaica, he had been in the United States for over 44 years and Naples resident for the last 16 years. He was born October 3, 1945 in Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica, the son of Louis Joseph and Arabelle (née Bailey) Archer.
Mr. Archer is survived by Betty Veronica (née McEwan) Archer, his soul mate of 16 years and loving wife of 10 years; his beloved children, Horace Campton Archer, O’Neil Anthony Dale Archer, Tracey Ann (Dwight) Gordon, Lesia Powell, Kevan Powell, Yonique (Hassan) Peart and Shadane (Thrisann) Powell; three brothers, Louis (Yvonne) Archer, Joey (Sylvia) Archer and Carl (Joan) Archer; 20 grandchildren and one great grandchild, nieces, nephews ,cousins and friends.
Horace (affectionately call Archie) went to Boys Town High School and Campbell's Castle All Age School. He furthered his studies at Auto Electrical Trade School in Manchester. His first apprenticeship was at the age of 17 in Mandeville, Jamaica as a Mechanic and Electrician. In 1976 he migrated to the United state where he became a Certified Electrician. He spent the last 11 years working as a bus driver for his second home, Aston Gardens, where he served as a bus driver. He loved his job which gave him the opportunity to talk to the residents who loves him dearly.
He will be remembered for his teasing jokes, his wildly entertaining stories, his unfailing work ethic and his generous smile. Beside spending time with his family, Archie had a passion for politics, cricket, a good domino game, photography and collecting antique cars . He enjoyed watching documentary and the National Geographic Channel.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Road, Naples. Visitation for family and friends will take place at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of floral tributes, an offering will be collected in aid of the Golden Gate SDA Church building fund.
