James O. Stevens , Jr.

James O. Stevens, beloved husband, brother, father and friend passed away surrounded by his family and friends on January 10th.

Jim began his journey in Baltimore, Maryland in 1938, and moved to Naples 30 years later bringing his sense of adventure and community spirit to all he met.

His love for the outdoors: flying, boating and RVing was shared in developing key projects in the Naples area. He started Naples Sprinkler Systems, and developed residential and office projects as well as RV parks, such as Citrus Park, Neapolitan Cove and Pelican Lake Motorcoach Resort. He also played an active role in the development of Florida Sports Park , current home of the annual Swamp Buggy Races.

In the 70's, Jim contributed his time and talent to some of the earliest Naples Jaycees and Naples Players shows, and was an early organizer of the 5th Avenue 4th of July parades and festivals at Cambier Park. As an active pilot, he joined the civilian volunteers flying Sundown Patrol for the Naples Civil Air Patrol.

Jim is survived by his wife Pat, brother John (Francia), daughter Linda (Ron), son David (Maribel), step-son Allen, nephews John and Michael, nieces Sarah and Sandy, grandchildren Jamie, Daniel, Kayley, Cassidy, Emily, Anabella and Marcello James, great grandchildren Harper and Leo. He was preceded in death by his parents: James "Pappy" Stevens Sr. in February, 1983 and Dorothea "Dottie" in February, 1975. Jim's family will be having a private celebration of life later in the month.

Jim's kind spirit and humble personality were appreciated by all he met and will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to the Humane Society Naples in his name.
