James Edward Walsh, best known as Jim, 77 of Naples, Florida, passed away on June 12, 2020. He was born in Dorchester MA, and the son of the former Jennie and John F. Walsh He graduated from Brighton High School for auto mechanics, attended Wentworth Institute and worked for 21 years for St. Johnsbury Trucking in Vermont and then Cambridge MA before leaving to become the Director of Maintenance for Hallamore Transportation in Holbrook, MA. He and his wife moved to West Yarmouth MA in 1980, and in 1982 he retired from the transportation industry and pursued a lifelong dream of owning and running a restaurant. He owned and operated 4 restaurants on Cape Cod with his wife until 2001. In 2002, they retired to their current residence of Naples, FL where they just celebrated their 41 st wedding anniversary on June 2 nd . He leaves behind his wife Rita (Doyle) Walsh, formerly of Braintree MA, currently residing in Naples, FL and his four children: Maureen (Walsh) Shippee of Hinsdale NH, Michael Walsh of Humarock MA, Melinda (Walsh) Hannah of Dover NH, and Mark Walsh of Dover NH. Along with 3 stepchildren: Kelly (Webb) Roggatz of Peroria AZ, Kevin Webb of Revere MA, and Philip Webb of Wareham MA. As well as his Sister Kathleen (Walsh) Kelley of W. Roxbury MA and brother Richard Walsh of Braintree, MA. Mr. Walsh also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew. Mr. Walsh was predeceased by his brothers, John Walsh of Kingston MA and Kenneth Walsh of W. Roxbury MA. Jim was a great husband, father, and friend. He loved to tell stories, and thought his jokes were the funniest. An incredible mechanic, he could diagnose a problem engine just by listening to it. Jim was a member of the Naples Moose Lodge as well as a lifetime member of the Elks Club. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held in Naples at the Fuller Funeral Home and Crematory 4735 Tamiami Trl East, Naples FL on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 11am. The family ask that people make donations to American Diabetes or American Heart Associations in lieu of flowers.
