Jane Morrall (Whitehead) passed away April 7, 2022 at home in Naples, Florida. Born June 16, 1933 in Washington, Iowa she graduated from the University of Iowa before she met and married the love of her life, Earl Morrall (1934 – 2014). Together with Earl, she raised 5 children, Matt (Julie) Mardi Donahoe (Tom) Mindi, Mitch (Elizabeth) and Meghan Leiti (Bob, 1954- 2018). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren – Jayme, Shannon, Caitilin (Philip) Sara, Matthew, William, Bobby, Regan and MacKenzie.
Jane embraced life and looked forward to adventures everyday. She moved from a small farming community in Iowa to California for her husband’s rookie season with the San Francisco 49’ers. That was after honeymooning in Naples, Florida, in 1956. At that time, she vowed she would one day “retire” to Naples. Over the next 21 years, she moved the family over 20 times to support Earl’s football travels, from San Francisco, to Pittsburgh, to Detroit, to New York to Baltimore to finally – Miami – “close” to Naples. Once the football stopped, Jane went to work outside the home. She decorated residences with her unique, modern style – including her own “spaceship” she and Earl built in Davie, Florida.
Once she was ready to retire, she convinced Earl to give her her dream of retiring to Naples. In 2000, she and Earl moved to Naples. Never one to sit still, Jane started her charity work for raising funds for youth and drug programs in the Naples community. Since 2001, Jane helped host 18 golf tournaments. Numerous retired “perfect season” teammates along with other NFL football players came to help raise funds, and support various charity programs in Naples. Her energy, laugh, and humor will be greatly missed. We are sure Earl has welcomed Jane on her next adventure, and asked her what took her so long.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Road, Naples, Florida from 4:00 – 6:00 on Monday, April 25. A reception will follow at the Leiti residence, 4190 3rd Ave NW, Naples, Florida.
