Tribute

Jennifer Lynn De La Mora “Jenni” passed away on March 24, 2021 @ 1:47pm at Avow Hospice in Naples, Florida from Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer. Jenni was surrounded by her family as she ended her five-year battle against this horrible unrelenting disease. Jenni was 40 years old.

Michael Suska, her father and Tina Hamm, her mother brought Jennifer into this world on March 22, 1981.

In 2013, Jenni married Felipe De La Mora, the love of her life. They have two children together, Natalia Lynn, age 7 and Felipe Edward, age 5. Jenni has two stepdaughters, Beatriz and Jennifer who reside in Mexico. Jenni has a stepmother Raeline and a half-brother Quinton who resides in Wyoming.

Growing up in New Lenox, Illinois as a single child, Jenni spent a lot of time with her families on both sides. Her Great Grandma Gruber, Grandma Joyce, Grandpa Ed, Uncle Mark, Aunt Lynny, Uncle Kevin, and Cousin Weston were especially close to her. She was fortunate to have the Hoyt family as neighbors, which she considered her second family, with MaryBeth, Lizzy, and Annie as her three best friends today.

Education has always been important to Jennifer and she made it a priority for her children always. Jenni and her mom Tina moved to Alabama through her high school years. When she moved back to Illinois, she attended a small liberal arts college where she earned her associates degree in Liberal Arts and later earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with high honors from the University of St. Francis in Joliet. Jenni graduated magna cum laude and was invited into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Society for her academic achievements.

After graduation, she worked in many different industries in order to broaden her business knowledge. Jenni became a certified arborist working for a tree and plant care company, a purchasing agent for a national homebuilder, and ended her working career as an office manager for a wholesale nursery in Naples, where today, her bosses, Ron & Kathy Torp, have become part of Jenni’s family offering their unconditional love and support throughout Jenni’s long battle.

In 2015, Jennifer received the devastating MBC diagnosis. She has been a true warrior for her family.

Jenni’s children were her inspiration every day. Her Aunt Marta and Cousins Lupe and Ulysses have been instrumental in helping with the children’s needs when Jenni did not have the strength. Jennifer loved her “mets sisters” whom she met along their shared journey. She was passionate about the awareness of metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Let us honor Jenni’s wishes and learn more about MBC at www.metavivor.org and www.swflmets.org.

A private family service will be held to celebrate Jennifer’s life. Jennifer was amazing and will be forever in our hearts!
