John R. Baer

John R. Baer, 90, of Naples, Fl, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020. Formerly of the Warren Ohio area, he had been a Naples resident for over 20 years. He was born November 22, 1929 in Vienna, Ohio.  He owned a supermarket in Vienna and was also involved there in the Kiwanis Club and coaching Little League.  Most recently, he was a resident of The Arlington in Naples and prior to that a resident of Hunters Ridge, where he was an avid golfer. He was actively involved in both communities and enjoyed spending time with his many good friends and neighbors.

John proudly served in the 1st Marine Division, United States Marine Corp. He was the recipient of three Purple Hearts as a result of wounds received during fighting in Western Korea between September and December 1952.

Mr. Baer is survived by his loving son, Dan (Angela)of Naples Fl; two cherished grandchildren, Jonathan and Alysa; and his brother Tom of West Lafayette, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Sylvia in 2018 and by his sister Blanche.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Collier County Honor Flight or Avow Hospice Naples.
