John A. Decozio

John Decozio, 88, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2017 at Naples Community Hospital.  He was born in Hartford, CT and received an honorable discharge from serving in the U.S. Navy in December 1953. After marrying his wife, Ruth, they lived in East Hartford for 40 years.  He worked his entire life in the food industry and was a Branch Manager for the John E. Cain Co. which covered CT and MA.  After retirement, he and Ruth moved to Florida where they recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. He enjoyed golfing, ballroom dancing, and especially bowling. In later years, he thoroughly enjoyed walking and socializing with the 8am friends at the Coastland Mall. Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 children, Marita Decozio-Wiley, surviving spouse of George Wiley, of Danielson, CT; Janice (Kenneth) Sayles of East Granby, CT; Mary (James) Davis of Cromwell, CT; and five wonderful grandchildren, Michael Davis and his wife Stacia; Ashley Davis; and Katelyn, Kenneth, and Cameron Sayles, all from CT, plus, several nieces and nephews throughout the country, Canada, and Italy. He also leaves behind his two sisters-in-law Ann DeCozio of Old Saybrook, CT and Mary DeCozio of Downingtown, PA. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 11am at St. William Catholic Church, with a reception following.  Donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the donor's choice.
