John B Henderson

John B. Henderson, 77, passed away from illness on Nov. 2, 2023, in Naples, FL. He is survived by his brother, Reid Henderson of Chicago, IL; his significant other, Xiu Cen; her daughter, Jenny Mei and John’s many cousins and close friends.   He was born on June 19, 1946, in Jersey City, NJ. and attended elementary and high school in Hershey, PA. He attended Ripon College in Ripon, WI where he earned his undergraduate degree in 1968. After moving to Florida in 1968, he later earned his MBA from the University of South Florida and then served in the U.S. Army in 1970. 

John had a long career as a Portfolio Manager and relocated to Naples in 1996, where he continued his career at Merrill Lynch Investment Management as Vice President, Senior Portfolio Manager. He was well-known as an advisor to other financial advisors and helped advance many young advisors along their career paths until he retired in 2006.

John loved his summer getaways on the island of Islesboro, ME. For the past twenty years, he spent half a year in Maine where he enjoyed the beautiful views and the serenity of nature. John also loved fishing, art, antiques, travel, and shopping for everything from tools to linens. His home was always a show place and was never short of anything he needed. John was a good friend to many. Friends and family will always remember John for his ability to make everyone feel like they were his best friend. He will be sorely missed.

John was preceded in death by his father Alfred Henderson, mother Aline L. Henderson Ellis, and nephew Timothy Henderson.
