John Russell Matson

Matson, John Russell (Jack). Age 91 of Naples died peacefully on January 19, 2020. Born in Chetek, WI, Jack spent his early years there before moving to Minneapolis to raise a family.

Jack and his wife Gloria moved their family from Minneapolis to Naples, FL in 1977. A Veteran of the Army, he served his country during the Korean War and was very active with the American Legion in Minneapolis and with the Golden Gate VFW #7721 in Naples.

Preceded in death by wife, Gloria Matson; parents, Nels and Annie Matson; brothers, Wally Matson, Wayne Matson; and sister Catherine Potter. Survived by loving children, Greg (Patti) Matson, Cheryl (Fred) VanBrunt, Denise Matson, John (Donna) Matson; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Glenn Matson, Jim (Delores) Matson; sisters Eileen Ottoson, Doris Kaskinen, Linda Magadance and many other relatives & dear friends.

Inurnment with private family service at Palm Royale Cemetery and Mausoleum will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations/memorials preferred to Avow Hospice of Naples.
