John Thiesmeyer, Age 91, beloved father and loving husband passed from this life peacefully at his home in Naples, Florida on October 16, 2021.

John was born on August 24, 1930 in Detroit Michigan to Laura and Henry Thiesmeyer.  He was the last surviving member of a loving family of 6 brothers, Bobby, Chuck, Art, Jerry, Hank and Harold and 3 sisters, Marie, Ruth, and Ella Mae.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son Larry and is survived by his wife Shirley, daughters, Debbie Lonero (Vince) and Susan Hettich, daughter in law Diane and 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.  He joined the US Army Air Force at a young age and was proudly stationed on the West Coast. Soon after his deployment he was joined by the love of his life, Shirley and they were happily married while on military leave.  They celebrated 71 years and 2 days together in October.

John worked as an Electrician with the Union Local 58.  He retired with his wife to a lovely home in Canadian Lakes, Michigan.  He enjoyed endless days of golfing with his friends and even enjoyed receiving a special “Hole in One” golf award from his club.  He eventually followed his children to Naples, Florida where he continued to enjoy his favorite game of golf year-round.

John was a master at his trade as an Electrician and was blessed with many other skills from carpentry to mechanics.  His love of woodworking was evident in his later years through the countless bird houses, cars and airplane models he created.  His love of airplanes, big or small, old or new was evident throughout his life in the extensive library of magazines, books and movies he collected and enjoyed every day.

John’s goal in his life was to teach his children to be honest, loving and kind.  His wishes were to provide love and care for his wife, and to be with her, in the comfort of his home when he took his last breath here and traveled on to his next journey.  We love you and we will miss you but until we meet again … rest in comfort and peace.

The immediate family will honor his life in a private ceremony at a later date.
