Farewell to a nice guy. John Goodhue Tuttle, 73, son of Frederick Bliss Tuttle and Helen Young Tuttle, stepson of Louise Zellner Tuttle, passed away October 17, 2018. John was born in White Plains, New York, March 6, 1945. He soon relocated to Garden City, New York, and then to Marion, Massachusetts where he attended Tabor Academy. At Tabor he lettered in football, wrestling and lacrosse. After graduating from Parsons College, John began his career as a special education teacher with the Boston Public School System. While in Boston John provided many unique activities for his students including ice skating in the winter, apple picking in the fall and exploring Boston throughout the year. Upon retirement, John moved to Naples, Florida, where he lived until his passing.
During his working years in Boston, John traveled throughout the east coast (especially Florida), Hawaii, Mexico and Africa. John was a quiet man who enjoyed the company of his friends especially during his nephew’s New England Patriots football parties. An avid dog lover John’s greatest pleasure was derived from walks with his dog, Baileydog, throughout his neighborhood.
John is survived by his dog, Baileydog, his brother, Fred Tuttle. Naples, Florida, and his sister, Joan Crowley, Schenectady, New York, and his extended family and friends. John was proud to be part of an extensive legacy of educators, including his grandfather, father, brother and two nephews.
