Joseph C Cunha

Joseph C. "J" Cunha, 60 of Naples died unexpected January 14, 2019. He was born and raised in Chicago, IL, where he attended the Harrington Institute. He was a member of the Naples United Church of Christ. Jay fought a hard and thankfully short battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side and other family with him in love and spirit from IL,MI,IN and GA. Jay is loved by many in his community, his church, his place of employment and so many other friends near and far. He is survived by his parents Charles J. "Chuck" (Beverly) Cunha , his mother, Elaine C. Cunha, two sisters Susan ( Alan) Caruso, Kathryn (Michael) Archie and two Brothers, Scott Cunha and Michael Cunha. He is also survived by two step-sisters, Julie (Brian) Stapleton and Susan VanZeyl, two uncles, Len Anderson and David (Cindy) Anderson and three nieces, Danielle (Michael) Blakemore, Mackenzie Freund, and Ashley VanZeyl, and two nephews, Dylan Freund, and Aden Stapleton. Jay was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Wilhelmina Marie (Ryelts) Cunha, his maternal grandparents, Oscar and Grace (Meizi) Anderson a brother, James M. Cunha, and a step-brother Jeff ( Jan) VanZeyl.The family will receive friends on Sunday , Jan 20 from 3 to 6pm at Fuller Funeral Home, 4735 Tamiami Trail East, where services will be held at 6:00pm. Donations in Jay's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Naples Humane Society. Jay was kind, hard-working, had a heart of gold and will always be remembered for his generosity of spirit, his wonderful sense of humor, always thinking of others, the twinkle in his blue eyes and his ever present smile. Jay will be missed.
