Joseph J. Dickens

Joseph J. Dickens, age 75, a/k/a Jack, passed away after a long illness on February 26, 2019 at Avow Hospice in Naples, Florida surrounded by his family.Jack was born in Franklin, Massachusetts, and never changed his zip code until he retired to Naples, Florida in 2000. After graduating from Marion High School in Framingham, Massachusetts, Jack enlisted into the United States Navy and served from 1961 to 1964.  His career choice was working for AT&T Lucent Technology and Nokia for 35 years as an engineer and proud member of the IBEW telephone union.In 2000 Jack retired and moved with his wife Joni to Naples, Florida where he enjoyed playing tennis, softball and his many morning walks along the beach. Jack was an avid Patriot and Red Sox fan and especially enjoyed their many championships.Jack leaves his wife of 35 years, Joni Dickens, beloved son Joseph Dickens, Jr, step-daughter Kelly Fleischman of Easton, Massachusetts, step-son Michael Burke of Bellingham, Massachusetts, and two granddaughters Rachel Fleischman and Baillie Burke. His family was the greatest joy of Jack's life.  A celebration of life will be held March 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Rd., Naples, Florida 34109.  Burial will be March 30, 2019 when his ashes will be spread in the Gulf of Mexico because Jack loved his navy days and his numerous walks along the Naples beaches over the years.  JIn lieu of flowers donations may be made to Avow Hospice, 1095B Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, Florida 34105.
