June Taylor Kroeschell passed away in Naples, Florida, on March 9, 2023, at the age of 90. Born in Stamford, Connecticut on January 13, 1933, she graduated from Darien High School in Darien, Connecticut and received her undergraduate degree from Lawrence College in Appleton, Wisconsin. She married her college sweetheart in 1954, and became a full-time resident of Naples, Florida in 1989.
June is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years (William Otto), as well as her parents, Bruce and Helen Taylor. She is survived by her three children, Catherine (Dan) Thomson of Gaylord, Michigan, Laura (Joe) Howell of Clayton, North Carolina, and Bruce (Susan) Kroeschell, of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren (plus one on the way).
June had a remarkable career of volunteerism, selflessly giving her time and skills to numerous charitable organizations. During her married life, she was actively involved in various Junior Leagues as well as The League Club in Naples.? Her participation in the League Club culminated in her presidency. She was greatly involved with the Naples Botanical Garden and served as president of the Garden Club. In 2008, she received the prestigious “Woman of Style” award from the Community Foundation, recognizing her lifelong dedication to charitable work, which service continued well into her eighties.
A private memorial service in her honor is planned for this spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in June’s honor to the Naples Botanical Garden (naplesgarden.org).
