Karl Potteiger

Rob “Pott” Potteiger, Loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully in his home in Naples, FL on October 13, 2019 at the age of 65. He was born in Pontiac Michigan on December 31, 1953. He grew up on Walnut Lake in West Bloomfield before moving to Naples in 1972.
Rob faithfully served his community for over 30 years in the fire service. He started his career as a firefighter and rose through the ranks and retired in July 2010 as Assistant Chief of the East Naples Fire Control and Rescue District. He earned his Degree in Fire Administration and was certified as Executive Fire Officer. He also held many other certifications such as Florida State Fire Mechanic, Incident Command, and Florida State EMT to name a few. He also served on many committees during the course of his career. Rob currently was a member of the Greater Naples Fire Rescue Chapter 175 Pension Plan.
He loved to spend his time hunting and traveling; often spending time in the mountains with his family and friends. He was also a car enthusiast who spent much time building and restoring classic cars. He was known for his quick wit, clever sense of humor, and his compassion for people. He was admired by many and will be dearly missed.
Rob is survived by his wife Laura, his children; Lindsey, Stephen, Sarah, Billy, Meagan, his 9 grandchildren, his sisters Sue Fessler of Michigan and Beth Potteiger of North Carolina, as well as several nieces and nephews and many close friends. He was proceeded in death by his mother Marcella, father Carl, brother Mike, and sister Pam.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26th, 2019 at Fuller Funeral Home, located at 4735 Tamiami Trail East. Services will begin at 3:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service to honor Assistant Chief Potteiger.
