Leon “Paul” Durbin of Naples, Florida, former longtime resident of Monument Colorado, passed away with his daughters by his side on May 8, 2023 at the age of 82.
Paul will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters Deborah Cannon (Scott ) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Darcy Rook (Jared) of Naples, Florida; two adopted sons Bob of Massachusetts, Sean of Massachusetts; two brothers, Richard Durbin (Joanne) of Port Charlotte, Florida, Robert Durbin (Linda) of Mechanicsville, Virginia; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Florence; wife Joan, infant son David; and sister Nancy.
Born in Norwich, Connecticut. Paul grew up in Norwood, Massachusetts. In 1963, Paul married the love of his life Joan (Shaughnessy). The family moved to Monument, Colorado in 1982 when Paul transferred from Massachusetts with Digital Equipment Corporation, as an engineer. Paul was a man of faith, family, community and service. He was known for his compassion and caring heart; volunteering for Readers Literacy programs, Tri- Lakes Cares, The Soup Kitchen, and so many more. Paul was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid sports fan; especially the Red Sox, and lived a dream playing at Fenway Park during Fantasy Camp. Paul loved life and had a wonderful one.
A graveside service was held at 1 PM Thursday, May 12, 2023 at Sarasota National Veterans Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida.
There will be a Memorial Church Service, June 12, 2023 at 10 AM, Saint Peter‘s Catholic Church, Monument, Colorado.
