Margret Prutting

Margret Prutting, age 85, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, at the Naples Community Hospital at 3:51 am on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. From her birth on March 16, 1932 in Germany, to her death she touched the lives of those around her with her enthusiasm, love and her radiant personality.
After surviving a childhood in a war-torn Germany during WW II, she completed her education in Lausanne, Switzerland. She came to the United States to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. She settled in Chicago, where she raised her family. She moved to Naples, FL in 1991 with her husband, Richard “Dick” Prutting, where she enjoyed her active lifestyle. She was an avid and competitive tennis player. It was through her love of tennis and her time on the courts at the Naples Beach Club that she met many of her closest friends. She was also an avid skier and gardener, and she enjoyed playing cards and lunch with her friends.
Left to honor Margret and remember her love is Dick, her beloved husband of 46 years, and sons Larry (Amy) Thalmann and Mark (Becky) Thalmann, Grandchildren Lawson, Carleigh, Jack, Cooper and Grace, and her many nieces and nephews both here and in Germany.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Saint Ann Church, 475 9th Avenue, Naples, FL. Visitation will begin at 12:00, followed by a funeral Mass at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Margret’s name to The Sunshine Kids, a charity that both she and Dick were passionate about. www.sunshinekids.org/donate/.
