Marilyn Anne (Snyder) Connell

Tribute

Marilyn A. Connell, 88 years old, of Naples, Fla, formerly of Seneca Falls, NY, died after a short illness; on August 5th in Naples, Florida. Daughter of the late Leslie and Genevieve (Brew) Snyder, she was the direct descendent of Heinrich Schneider of Kassel, Germany and Lord Wallace Marr of Scotland of the Clan Mar, which can trace its roots back to antiquity.

 

A Graduate of the Community College of the Finger Lakes, Canandaigua, NY and Syracuse University, cum laude, with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing and Public Health, she was employed by the Finger Lakes Health Care System for 22 years. She was a member of the Genesee Valley Nurses Association, the NYS Nurses Association, and the American Nurses Association for many years. While raising five children, she was also an active member of the Seneca Falls Welfare League, the Fortnightly Club, the College Club of Geneva, NY, The Finger Lakes Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and helped raise money for many charities.

 

In 1991, she and her husband moved to Naples where she continued her membership in the ANA and Florida Nurses Associations, as well as the American Association of University Women and was an active member of the Pelican Bay Women’s League.

 

Marilyn is survived by her 5 children: Kathleen Raviele, MD (Anthony), Richard F. Connell, Leslie “Sheila” Connell, Paul Connell, all of Atlanta, Georgia and Coleman J.  “Kelly” Connell Jr. of Granada Hills, CA; 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Coleman J. Connell, her parents, her sisters Grace Henry and Joan Snyder and a brother, Joseph Snyder.

 

Funeral Services will be held at Fuller Funeral Home on Pine Ridge Road, Thursday, August 9, 2018; Visitation to be held from 11AM until time of service at 12Noon. Entombment will be private in Naples Memorial Gardens, Naples, Florida. Donations may be made to the Mynderse Public Library, Seneca Falls, NY 13148; or the Seneca Falls Historical Society, or a charity of one’s choice.
